Troop 347 has an active couple of months ahead as they plan out a very busy spring time schedule. We have three camp outs scheduled over the next two months.
First up is the troop PGA campout on March 8th which focuses on the boys achievements and some of the essential skills that they will need as a scout. We will have classes for rank advancement, totinchip, fire starting, orienteering, and others. We will be camping in cabins which is a nice bridge for the first year boys to get used to being away as well as allowing us to run some courses indoors even if the weather is poor.
Our second campout is a special one night campout on April 13th for all our new scouts. We highly recommend this trip as it is their first run at a full campout with the Boy Scouts. They get to work as a patrol and learn how to set up their tents and gear with no pressure of having another agenda to worry about. If your first year scout is planning on summer camp, we highly recommend this campout to get them on their way!
Finally, on April 19th, the troop is heading to Governor Dodge State park. This is a new location for the troop and is Wisconsin's largest state park. It has large bluffs and cliffs to both climb and hike around (the picture above is Ennie Point which we will climb) and fantastic trails and scenery. This is a regular troop camping event and we look forward to seeing everyone there.
REMEMBER TO CHECK YOUR MAILBOX EVERY WEEK. You can also use the mailboxes to return items or get information to the leaders. Permission forms will also be located in the mailbox. If you have other suggestions if things that might belong in the mailboxes please let us know.
We have had a great group of scouts cross over into Troop 347 and would like to take the time to congratulate them for joining the Boy Scouts and welcome them into our troop. We are looking forward to great things from these young men and can not wait to see what they will accomplish in the upcoming years.
Upcoming Fundraiser! Troop 347 is planning an ambitious fundraiser to help the boys defray camping fees and other Boy Scout expenses. Currently, they are looking to have a combination Car Wash and BBQ with home made ice cream for sale as well. We could use any help in planning and executing this event. If you would like to help, or have ideas, please contact one of the adult leaders during our upcoming meetings.
